SNSD's S$1.8m SG concert most expensive K-pop solo concert at singapore

SINGAPORE: Korean girl group SNSD's upcoming
S$1.8 million Singapore concert has pipped Shinee's
S$1.7 million concert here, to become the most
expensive concert staged in Singapore by a single K-pop act so far, said concert organisers Running Into The Sun (RITS) and Conceptual.RITS revealed in a statement that SNSD's performance here will have all the bells and whistles of a large-scale K-pop concert and then some -- it will feature the standard massive LED screens and lasers as well as new elements like trapezes and two custom-built stages with three walkways between them. The girls will move about on the walkways over the course of the three-hour show, allowing a little over 2000 concert-goers in the three mosh pits to see them up close, essentially making the mosh pits the place to be for hardcore SNSD fans.
Recent news that the nine-member girl group had brought forward their first solo concert in Singapore to December 9 had left their fans here in a tizzy, and sparked intense speculation over when ticket sales will begin and how much they will cost.

RITS said a total of 5,500 tickets priced at S$168 and S$218 are available for sale.

Samsung customers and OCBC cardholders can get their tickets from October 29 while the public will have to wait till November 1 to purchase their tickets.

SHINee Jonghyun and Super Junior Sungmin Chill with Their Guitars in Central Park

K-Pop and particularly SM Entertainment artists’ fans in New York were all up in excitement when the Big Apple played host to the "SM Town Live in New York” concert. While fans worldwide can get glimpses of behind-the-scenes photos and stay updated of the events through the SM Town official Facebook account, those in New York are able to capture their idols in rare moments of true relaxation.
A fan of SHINee’s Jonghyun was able to snap a photo of him playing the guitar in Central Park. With him in the same frame is Super Junior’s Sungmin, also playing the guitar. The photo was shared on the fan’s Twitter account, with the comment, “Romantic guitar in Central Park, Jonghyun.”
SHINee and Super Junior were joined by labelmates DBSK, SNSD, f(x), Kangta and BoA for the one-night-only performance at the Madison Square Garden on Oct. 23.

2NE1 attends photo session for ‘Jeremy Scott x Adidas’ shoes

Back in October, we reported that famous designer Jeremy Scott would be introducing a new Adidas collection inspired by his close friends, 2NE1.
The fierce foursome made an appearance today at the Adidas Original store in Myundong, Seoul for a photo session event introducing the ‘JS Collage Wing x 2NE1‘ collection. As expected, 2NE1 wore Jeremy Scott’s fashion pieces while showing off his ‘JS Collage Wings x 2NE1′ shoes. CL and Minzy drew especial attention with their radical change in hairstyles.
As mentioned previously, the ‘JS Collage Wings x 2NE1′ shoes has elements derived from 2NE1′s music, character, fashion style, and individual member qualities. In order to express the mix-and-match style unique to 2NE1, Jeremy Scott decided to incorporate the use of the collage technique.
Meanwhile, ‘JS Wing 2.0 Satin is made of pure white satin material and decorated with wings to evoke an angel design.

Brown Eyed Girls release teaser photos for repackaged album

Earlier, we reported that the talented female group Brown Eyed Girls would be releasing a repackaged album. To tease us, the girls just released photos from their 4th repackaged special edition album.
The photos released in this teaser are much different from the concept photos of the ladies fourth official album, Sixth Sense, which was released on September 23rd. If the ‘Sixth Sense’ album’s concept was dark and intense, the photos this time around give off a much more bright and feminine vibe with vivid, colorful eye makeup and lipstick.
Their agency stated, “Despite the two year hiatus, for all the love people have shown the 4th album, this special repackaged album was prepared to express our gratitude for our fans in Korea, as well as overseas… Through the special edition album, we plan to reveal pictures of Brown Eyed Girls that have never been revealed before.”
The repackaged album will be released on November 4th with the original songs included in the ‘Sixth Sense’ album as well as one new title track (a ballad), a film of making of the music video, and a special photospread calendar, and a ‘Thanks to’ written by the members.

Wonder Girls unleash first video teaser for comeback!

The Wonder Girls‘ return to the Korean music scene has been nothing short of explosive: after releasing two batches of photo teasers that blew everyone away with the ladies’ mature transformations, the Wonder Girls have delivered an incredibly fierce video teaser for their comeback album!
With equal levels of sophistication and elegance exhibited in the previous releases, this video has got everything that fans have been anticipating: a gorgeous set, and a rocker-chic transformation that exceeds expectations. The teaser opens with a powerful vocal note, followed by flashes of each member amid a room of hanging lightbulbs and music equipment, with visuals full of hairflips, studs and leather.
Before embarking on their venture into the American market, the Wonder Girls were known as “Korea’s Little Sisters”, but this maturation proves that the quintet has done quite a bit of growing up over the course of a hiatus that seems to have been well worth the wait. After introducing the retro trend to the k-pop scene years back, the ladies are ready to dominate with an edgy rocker-chic concept that fans new and old will be sure to love.
JYP Entertainment stated, “The teaser photo revealed today is a teaser photo for Wonder Girls’ second official album, and contains the image of Wonder Girls who have perfectly completed the preparations to greet fans in Korea.” They added, “We ask for your continuous interest and love.
Even if you weren’t a Wonder Girls fan before, this is definitely a video teaser you don’t want to miss. Check it out below!

It looks like the Wonder Girls are ready to take back the k-pop scene with full force. Wonderfuls have been patiently waiting for this comeback for years now — the question is, are you ready?

On November 1st, After School‘s Jung Ah shared a few sleepy selca photos through
her Twitter page. The singer wrote, “Ahhh. I need to rest, but I can’t seem to fall
asleep. Sweet dreams everyone, goodnight.”In the photos, Jung Ah rests her bare
face on her pillow with a pout on her face. A contrast from her charismatic vixen-like

SHINee’s London concert tickets sell out in a minute

SHINee has been invited to be the opening act at London’s Korean Film Festival to take place at Odeon West End Theater on November 3rd, and will also be performing their ‘SHINee in London‘ concert.
This will be the first time that a Korean artist will be holding an independent concert in London, and tickets for the show were sold out within a minute after going on sale at 1:00PM on the 27th. There was so much demand that the servers began to crash immediately after the tickets were up for sale. The sales site for London’s largest theater, Odeon, was down for five hours. It was also impossible to purchase theater tickets on the numerous other sites that were selling the theater tickets online. Fans began calling in over the phone to obtain their tickets, as well as going to the theater in person to try and purchase their tickets.
A representative from Odeon remarked, “This is the first time our server went down. We didn’t know so many people would try to purchase the tickets all at once.” Odeon Theater will be enforcing heavy security the day of the event for the safety of the fans and SHINee themselves.
The SHINee boys will be traveling to London on the 1st, and will be performing their hit songs such as “Noona so pretty“, “Juliet“, “Lucifer“, “Ring Ding Dong“, and more.

York concert lit up Manhattan.BoA, Girls' Generation, Kangta, SHINee, TVXQ, Super Junior
and f(x) all belong to SM Entertainment, Korea's leading talent agency. As they took to the

Ticket sales begin for ‘United Cube in London’ concert

Last week, we reported that tickets for ‘United Cube in London‘ would start selling at the end of October. Fans won’t have to wait on pins and needles anymore, as Live Nation officially kicked off ticket sales for London’s first K-Pop concert.
General admission tickets begin at £65.00, and the event will be held at the O2 Academy in Brixton, South London. The Brixton Academy is known for being one of the biggest non-arena venues in London, and it’s attracted a bevy of world-class performers like Madonna, Arcade Fire, Sex Pistols, and Bob Dylan. Now it’s G.NA, 4minute, and B2ST‘s turn to rock the hall and deliver a concert that London will never forget.
Doojoon, the leader of B2ST, stated, “We’re already excited thinking about performing at a place where many artists that we look up to have performed at before. As the starting point [of a venture into Europe], we will prepare a concert in England that will be unforgettable to everyone.”
‘United Cube in London’ will take place on December 5th at 7:30 PM .

SHINee’s Key And f(x)’s Amber Share The Same Hair, Clothes, Gender…

Is SHINee’s Key girly or is f(x)’s Amber boyish? If they look like
each other, what does that mean? My head hurts. Kpop is going to
drive me crazy one day. I had been tracking down any news from
SHINee I could find because a lack of SHINee in my life means I
don’t smile enough and then I came across photos from Super
Junior’s Kiss The Radio Public Broadcast.
Hi Key, I Miss You, Love Sunny Photo Credit: Key Fansite

He looks familar…

Yup. They have the same make-up (Key wears make-up, a lot
of it and he does it himself sometimes), same-ish vest, hair and
facial structure. Amber has also been compared to other SM
Entertainment artists like Super Junior’s DongHae and SHINee’s
Key because they all give off a dinosaur vibe.

Video Of The Day: SHINee’s Key Imitates 2NE1′s CL

Super Junior has gone on a well-deserved vacation but that means Leeteuk and Eunhyuk won’t be hosting their radio show, Super Junior’s Kiss The Radio (Sukira) and Heechul will be gone from Kim Heechul’s Youngstreet.
Fans need not worry because their hoobaes, SHINee, stepped in to fill their spots for both broadcasts.
Someone give these boys their own radio show because Key was made for entertainment!
Key and Minho were the hosts for Heechul’s Youngstreet and during 2NE1′s “Go Away,” diva Key made an appearance.
Keep an eye out for all of their broadcasts!

It also looks like the mostly inactive group (because SM never promotes them and now they’re all covered in dust) CSJH the Grace will be performing at all the dates of the SM Town World Tour.
“Hello, how are you?
This is GAMZA, the operator of GAIA : Korean CSJH the Grace Fan cafe.
I would like to notify that Lina, Dana, Sunday are participating at the upcoming SMTOWN LIVE World Tour. Unfortunately, Stephanie is unable to participate.
I am hoping that many Shapleys abroad will go and support the three members who would have rehearsed hard for Shapleys all over the world, as it has been a long time we met each other.
It will be nice if Shapleys could gather together in one group in each concert arena (LA, Shanghai, Tokyo) and watch the concert as one big group.
Also, we do not have a set representative glow sticks assigned to us at the moment so if you could purchase the pink glow sticks and form a # shape it will be really nice and much appreciated.
Let’s show the three members and other SM artists and their fans Shapley’s presence at the SMTOWN LIVE concert!
Regards, GAMZA

Flash Mobs In New York City, Canada, and More Call Out To SM Town!

Looks like the success of the flash mobs in Paris
(that got them a second SM Town Live concert) have inspired K-pop fans across the globe to take action in hopes of seeing their favorite stars perform in their home countries. On July 6, Cherry Hill in Central Park, New York City was taken over by an army of pink, led by flash mob organizers (and college buddies) Joy, Danielle, Michelle, and Chanel.
According to Danielle, 22, the four friends had begun preparing for the “We Want SM Town NYC” flash mob since May, and the event had snowballed almost overnight as word got out, even getting the attention of major broadcasting stations in Korea! It was truly a sight to see — girls and guys of all different nationalities and ages, holding up handmade signs (some written in Korean!) and chanting the names of their favorite SM artists.
 “Dae-Han-Min-Guk!”
The victory chants, meaning “Korea” and often heard during World Cup season, were loud enough to catch the attention of passersby — some of whom stuck around to watch the highlight of the afternoon: the flash mob!
At 2:00 PM, those who learned the choreography from the tutorial video posted on the SMTOWNNYC social media sites got into their formations, while others cheered them on and waved their signs from behind. And cue music. For those ten minutes, Central Park got a taste of some of SM’s hottest singles from this year. Music played from a portable stereo, barely audible over the 100+ fans in attendance who were singing along excitedly.

KBS News Coverage of SMTOWN Flash Mobs

Hopefully this kind of news coverage is what NYC K-pop fans need to reach their goal of getting SM “to stop neglecting the east coast and hold a SMTown Live here in NYC!”
And US and Canada aren’t the only ones who want SM Town to pay them some attention — 4,000 K-pop fans in Peru gathered for their “SM Town in Peru Project,” while flash mobs and other fan projects have been popping up across countries like Brazil and Mexico!
Looks like it’s your move now, SM.

SM Town Captivates Paris!

Dreams really do come true! Or at least that’s what European K-pop fans will tell you. This past weekend, five of the biggest names in K-pop — SM artists TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, and F(x) — performed for 14,000 fans at two sold-out concerts at Le Zénith in Paris, France. SM Town Live in Paris may just be the first real step towards the full-scale expansion of K-pop to the rest of the world.International fans have been proving their love for K-pop and vocalizing their desires to see their favorite idols live — and SM Town Live in Paris was the first answer to the calling. Not only that, but SM has been continuing to take advantage of social media to connect with their international fans.

Remember when Super Junior members Leeteuk and Siwon talked about Twitter on CNN? Leeteuk described social media as a good channel to check in with fans and show them what he’s up to. Well, SM Entertainment has taken that one step further with an official Facebook page for all of the labels’ artists. From the day that SM artists began arriving in Paris, SM Entertainment posted photos and statuses in steady frequency, with live posts throughout both concerts, eliciting thousands of comments and likes within minutes. The uploaded concert footagehas garnered millions of views combined, which fans were able to watch the night of the actual performance. The five total videos feature one of each SM artist’s hit songs, beginning with the SM  maknaes, f(x) and SHINee, and ending with TVXQ’s sexy performance of “Before You Go.”

SM Town Live in NYC Artist Line-Up:

What is SM Entertainment’s Hottest Single of 2010-2011?

Welcome to the latest edition of MTV K’s Top Ten Poll!
Last time, you all voted for K-Pop’s Hottest Summer Body, and Rain was voted King of the Beach with a whopping 34.4% of the votes!
We’re switching gears this week and heading towards some of our favorite music videos!
For MTV K readers who have been with us since the start, you may remember our Top Ten Kountdown for YG’s Hottest Singles of 2009-2010.
This time, we’re shining the spotlight on our favorite SM artists, in commemoration of their huge success with the SM Town Live concerts!
And we’ve decided to turn it over to our readers to determine the rankings!
MTV K has picked ten of the hottest SM singles of 2010 to 2011, from last summer’s “Lucifer” by SHINee to this spring’s “Before You Go” by TVXQ, based on number of award wins, album sales, and fan responses — along with some miscellaneous jumbles of confidential data and statistics (not really).
We know, we know, ten is too small a number! (I’m still a bit upset over Girls’ Generation‘s “Run Devil Run” not making the cut…)
Poll ends Monday night 11:59PM EST, and rankings will be revealed on Tuesday, July 5th!
You can vote for however many songs you’d like, so don’t hurt yourself trying to choose just one ^^

SNSD’s YoonA & Taeyeon get criticized by netizens for “unprofessional behavior”

SNSD‘s YoonA and Taeyeon are becoming a ‘hot issue’ due to their behavior during an American interview.
SNSD was recently interviewed by ‘MTV IGGY’ at the MTV building in New York’s iconic Times Square. While Tiffany and Jessica wowed netizens back home with their fluent English, their groupmates YoonA and Taeyeon have been receiving some flak.
During the interview, YoonA and Taeyeon were both seen with what Korean media outlets are calling “dark expressions”. While the others laughed and smiled, the two looked morose and worn out. Taeyeon was even caught on screen with her chin in her hands, looking somewhat bored.
Netizens are criticizing the girls on their behavior, saying things like, “As Korea’s cultural representatives, shouldn’t they put their best face forward?”, I’m a little disappointed… even if they’re tired, this is an important Hallyu moment”, and “Very unprofessional.”
Others rallied to YoonA and Taeyeon’s side, arguing that the girls had been suffering from a cold that resulted from their busy schedules.
Are K-netizens overreacting, or is there a grain of truth in their arguments? Toss us your thoughts below.

Girls’ Generation Drops English Version of “The Boys” MV!

Immediately following the release of their Korean MV for “The Boys,” Girls’ Generation has revealed the video’s English version! Featuring the track in English this time, the MV gets kicked up a notch. Not only are we graced with the presence of these nine gorgeous ladies, we also have the pleasure of hearing them sing in English for once.
Native English speakers Tiffany and Jessica sound great on the track, as expected; Sunny and Seohyun definitely impress us as well, as their English pronunciation is nearly perfect. And I can’t help but pay extra attention to Hyoyeon’s dance break — that girl is simply too fabulous not to notice! With lines like, “You don’t have to pretend you didn’t notice me, every look will make it hard to breathe,” and “I know life is a mystery, I’m gonna make history,” this song will definitely be playing non-stop on my iPod.
Which version do you like better, the Korean or the English?

Twitter: @donfaustino. Audio and video remix / mash-up of popular 2010 K-Pop songs -- Bonamana (미인아) and Lucifer by Super Junior and SHINee, respectively. In my opinion, two of the most anticipated comebacks of the year, and probably the more successful ones. I did the remix and video editing myself.

Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2011 - October Week 5

This was a very busy week all over the chart, especially within the top 10 with six new songs and lots of movement. Despite all that, Brown Eyed Girls’ “Sixth Sense” was able to hold on to the top spot for the third straight week. That is no small accomplishment considered that so many recently released songs by big name artists are eyeing the top spot.
Wheesung’s “Here They Come” moves up four spots to No. 2 this week, trailing “Sixth Sense” by 33 points.  This is Wheesung’s last release before he is enlisting in the army. It’s too bad that his brief promotion has to end prematurely due to health reasons. Otherwise this song may have already overtaken “Sixth Sense” as the new No. 1 song.

As mentioned, there are six new songs in the top 10 this week, and that is not even including a song that most people expects to see in the top 10 – SNSD’s “The Boys” (more on this later).
Moving up eight spots to No. 3 is FT Island’s “Like The Birds.” This song is coming from the group’s remake album. The original song is from Byun Jin Sup way back in 1988. FT Island adds a rock flavor to this song. Lee Hong Ki’s refreshing vocals matched with Song Seung Hyun’s rap liven this exciting track.
At No. 5, After School’s sub-unit Orange Caramel is back again. Continuing their “One Of Asia” theme which produced the hit single “Bangkok City” earlier this year. This time the lovely girls take their act to Shanghai with a Chinese flavored theme “Shanghai Romance”. This song has an all-star production team – composed by famous songwriter Cho Young Soo, who always like to explore new themes in his music, and the lyrics is by none other than Super Junior’s Kim Hee Chul.  This combination is definitely going to help boosting the popularity of this song, as it moves up 12 spots to No. 5 this week.

An even bigger move is found at No. 6.  Kim Hyun Joong’s “Lucky Guy” is up 14 spots from last week. SS501 members have all  been busy with solo activities this year. The latest hit by Kim Hyun Joong adds to the collection of many solo songs by SS501 members to reach the top 10.  “Lucky Guy” is an upbeat funky number with electric guitar and brass sounds. As a long time fan of rock music, Kim Hyun Joong combines dance with rock music for fans this time.

Our highest debut this week is at No. 7. Secret’s “Love Move” which enters the chart right into the top 10. After successful hits like “Magic”, “Madonna” last year, and “Shy Boy”, “Starlight Moonlight” this year, the talented quartet finally release their first full length album. “Love Move” is an addictive pop dance number produced by hit maker Kang Ji Won and Kim Ki Bum. The song holds lyrics about girls not being easy and to do well while you can. Secret has been very successful on our chart and is definitely a front runner for this year’s girl groups award.
At No. 9, Supreme Team member Simon D releases his first solo album “SNL League Begins”.  Title song “Cheerz” becomes his first solo top 10 hit. If this song’s style sounds kind of familiar to you, it may be because it is written by Keeproots and Clover members. Clover just had their hit song “Oppa I Know” dropped out of the top 10 this week.
The last new song at No. 10 is Lee Seung Ki’s digital single “Dating Generation”. This song is a preview song from his 5th album to be released soon. Upon its release, this song immediately topped many internet charts.  Lee Seung Ki is expected to begin his full scale comeback next month.
Even though it is not yet in the top 10, but a song worth mentioning is SNSD’s long awaited comeback hit “The Boys” is just under the top 10 at No. 11 this week. This song has not appeared on airplay rankings yet, but it certainly will next week. “The Boys” definitely will leapfrog a lot of songs and can’t be ruled out of a big jump all the way to No. 1.
